Jewelry holder
I don’t wear much jewelry, mainly just earrings and from time to time a ring. However, I removed them before going to sleep and used to toss them in a box lying around. This led to tangles (with the one necklace in there) and a messy experience.
After searching high and low for a 3D-printed jewelry holder that matched my style, I came up empty-handed. So, I decided to design my own! This also became my first attempt at publishing a model on Printables and see what happens. Turns out, not much :-). But I was happy with the result, and the holder has been doing its job for the past 18 months!
Materials and tools
- 3D Printer: My trusty $200 Ender 3, which has been with me through many prints
- Filament: 1.75mm Wood PLA for that non-plastic result
- Nozzle: 0.8mm (the larger nozzle helps with wood PLA’s abrasive nature—better than the standard 0.4mm)
Design Process
Now, let’s dive into the design. It may look simple, but this project went through several iterations before I was happy with the final result.
The base of the design started as a 2D honeycomb pattern. I drew this in vector art software, printed a few small-scale prototypes, and experimented until I found a design that looked good and was strong enough to hold jewelry.
Now came the design of how to store the jewelry. Initially, I played around with different types of hooks, but they were too fragile and invariably ended up breaking off after printing. The final design has a set of “baskets” and hooks integrated into the 2d design.

Wall Mounting Solution
The wall mounting is pretty simple, there are two screw holes behind two baskets and a screw goes through there and spacers so that the holder is not too close to the wall. I did have a problem with the top part not being stable enough, but nothing an additional spacer glued at the back couldn’t solve.
Final result
I’ve been using this holder for about 18 months now, and it’s holding up great! The wood filament gives it a natural look, and the design fits my aesthetic perfectly. Plus, no more tangled necklaces!
